Apple has a list of safety features like fall detection, which was first seen on the Apple Watch Series 4, as well as emergency SOS on their cellular devices; now it is looking like they’re looing to expand on that list with a new crash detection feature that’ll be available on their Watch and iPhones next year as.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, but The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has been collecting data and had established over 10 million suspected vehicle crashes, 50,000 of which have been paired with SOS calls.
This would work similarly to the fall detection feature that places a call to an emergency service if you do not discharge the alert after 1 minute. Now your device would measure for a sudden change its gravitational force during impact and then call emergency services.
It is also worth noting that if you included an emergency contact, they would be notified with a message and a location at the time of the accident.
The crash detection feature is predicted to release in 2022, presumably with iOS 16 and WatchOS 9. Nevertheless, since nothing has been officially confirmed, we’ll have to keep an eye on any new developments before we give you a more detailed low-down.
