App optimization for iPhone X will be a painstaking process

You might be one of the many people who are looking forward to the iPhone X instead of the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus launched by Apple this year. Worldwide reception from consumers and fans for the iPhone 8 series has been sub par at best. The iPhone X on the other hand might set off a whole new series of problems when it comes to app optimization.

The image above is a screenshot of a video uploaded by a user on Reddit. The video, which can be found at the source link below, showcases the user opening up the Instagram app on the iPhone X, which has yet to be released. The Instagram app has yet to be optimized for the iPhone X’s odd screen size, either that or it is still poor optimized so far.

This brings up yet another issue – how about the other non-Apple made apps? While iOS 11 should be well optimized for the iPhone X’s screen, it might not be the same case for the sea of apps out there made by millions of different developers. A fellow Reddit user replied to the post saying, “It’s because Instagram hard coded offset values into their app, something Apple told developers repeatedly not to do”.

It looks like Apple has a whole lot of work left to set things straight with the optimization of apps on its iPhone X. Are you still planning to get one yourself?
