Android Nougat distribution still less than 3 percent

It’s the time of the month again where Android purists rant at the fact that Android fragmentation won’t ever be solved, and it will stay that way at least for the near future based on the latest Android distribution stats on its developers site. Distribution for Android Nougat has improved over the last month, but the latest version of Android still accounts for a very small percentage.

Regardless, there are some good news to the latest stats provided by Android. Both Marshmallow and Nougat are the only ones who saw an increase in adoption. The older ones such as Lollipop, Kit Kat and Jelly Bean all experienced declines over time. However, Lollipop is still running on over one-third of Android devices, followed closely behind by Marshmallow. Kit Kat and Jelly Bean account for 20.8 percent and 10.6 percent respectively. The even more ancient Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread operated Android devices still remain existent till this date, with 1 percent each.

Although at a mere 2.8 percent, Android Nougat experienced the greatest growth over the rest, given its previous distribution of only 1.2 percent. This is possibly due to the recent inundation of software updates by various manufacturers over the past couple of weeks, as they rush to provide their users with their own tastes of Nougat. Which version of Android are you currently running on?
