Android Nougat confirmed for both NVIDIA SHIELD Tablets

A couple of years ago, NVIDIA had the idea to join the Android spectrum by releasing their own gaming centric devices running on Google’s Android software. It started off with the NVIDIA SHIELD Portable, a portable gaming console device. Then came the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet that comes paired with the optional NVIDIA SHIELD controller, the NVIDIA SHIELD Android set up box for TV, and another variant of the tablet – the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1.

We’re not too sure on what will NVIDIA make next, but it seems unlikely that the company will be making gaming tablets for the considerable future, since its focus is most probably towards Android TV devices. Nevertheless, Android software development is still a very important aspect on either of its Android devices. We have good news for you, that is both the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet and the SHIELD Tablet K1 will be getting their share of Android Nougat soon.

Tis’ the season where manufacturers are rushing on rolling out Google’s latest Android software to their devices before the company starts working on the next version of Android. The above news comes from GeForce Forums where a customer care representative has confirmed that Android Nougat will indeed arrive to both variants of the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablets.

Android Nougat should work pretty well on both tablets, who are powered by Tegra K1 processors, and with Google’s new software arriving soon, the SHIELD Tablet K1, which is currently being sold, will definitely be a good buy before it turns obsolete. What do you think?
