Android 7.0 Nougat on the rollout to Xperia X and X compact

Earlier this month, Sony has begun rolling out Android Nougat software updates to its devices, starting off with the Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ. The company has announced a list of handsets back towards the end August that will be receiving their share of Nougat, and it looks like two more devices will finally be able to taste Android Nougat.

Sony Mobile has announced on its Twitter account that the Xperia X and Xperia X Compact will be getting Nougat software updates, from the current Android Marshmallow. The Japanese manufacturer has specified that the rollout will be phased, not every device across the globe will be receiving the software at once. So keep those eyes peeled for an update notifcation, but the rollout should only take a week or two at most.

The software update by Sony will bring in the usual features you get with Android Nougat, such as multi window support for apps, bundled notifications, quick pulldown for quick settings, new emojis and many more. All that’s left now are the Xperia XA series, including Sony’s flagships from yesteryear, as early as the Xperia Z3+. Have you gotten the software update for your Xperia device?
