An Xperia phablet spotted with a huge 6-inch screen

Back at MWC, Sony dumped the Xperia Z line to introduce the Xperia X series – the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA. All three handsets sport different specs in some way. While Sony has been silent about new products since then, an Xperia smartphone is spotted in the wild, courtesy of Chinese social networkers on Baidu.

The alleged handset, which is said to sport a 6-inch display, is rumored to be the successor of the Xperia C5 Ultra that was unveiled in August last year. Apart from the huge display as seen in the leaked image, another feature that stands out is the huge lens of the selfie camera, coupled with a flash on its right, which suggests that the phone will most likely feature an impressive front facing shooter. Also spotted is a dedicated camera shutter button located at the usual spot like on most Sony Xperia’s – the bottom right.

In terms of the overall design, this device isn’t running away from the standard Xperia pronounced rectangular and glass build. Other images show that the handset will have NFC built-in and features a micro-USB port instead of the newer USB Type-C. The Xperia C5 Ultra from last year featured a MediaTek MT6752 processor with 2GB of RAM, so chances are that this device will be MediaTek powered as well. The C5 Ultra also featured an impressive 13MP camera on the front with autofocus and LED flash, hence it convinces us more that the device in the leaked images will be its successor. Thoughts?
