AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 3990X has 64-cores and 128 threads for $3990

If you are looking to level up your content creation with faster processing, there’s now an alternative than investing in a Mac Pro or a Dual Intel Xeon workstation. AMD has surprised the medias today with the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X, the world’s first 64-core/128 thread HEDT processor made to take on the most complex multithreaded tasks.

The 3990X is a beast in the creative studio, it has a base clock speed of 2.9GHz and boosts up to 4.9GHz per core, along with 288MB of total cache, this CPU can save up to 70% of rendering time on a complex 3D rendering workflow. As AMD showed a video comparing to a $20,000 Dual Intel Xeon Platinum 8280 system on VRay rendering, the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X system completes a 3D model of Terminator: Dark Fate 27 minutes faster than its competition.

AMD continued to show a testimonial video from RED camera, where the team shared how the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X has been able to process RED colors much faster than before where they couldn’t have imagined, thus allowing them to create higher quality video content that they have intended for the audience.

As for retail price, the model number of the processor is the price – at US$3990, which is five times cheaper than the competing Intel Xeon system.
