Amazon Malaysia to launch in late 2017

This is not an April fool joke. because if you have been thinking to get that awesome product on Amazon but just can’t because it isn’t available here, you will be happy to know that the company will finally be launching its marketplace officially here in Malaysia, that’s right, you will soon be able to purchase products from Amazon just like you do on local e-commerce stores without worrying if it reaches you. Amazon and its affiliate iPrice, a meta-search website engine, has shared the screenshot of the Amazon Malaysia main page as pictured above, and users will be able to access the site by simply typing Amazon.my on their browser when it goes live, Amazon should also introduce its Prime member services and Music Unlimited service at launch as well.

One of the first products to be featured on Amazon Malaysia (we are sure this is an April Fool Joke) is a Bomoh Search Engine, which is sold by self-proclaimed Raja Bomoh Sedunia Nujum VIP, the product set will include a fresh pair of coconuts, a pair of the “All Seeing Stick”, a wooden basket and a magic carpet, which users can use it to perform traditional bomoh spells and Harry Potter spells. (Yes, this info comes directly from the press release)

Back to the serious side of things, Amazon has previously made its Prime video streaming service available here a couple of months back, and making its marketplace available here is already an expected move, and it will definitely be an interesting time to find out how Amazon would be able to compete with Alibaba owned Lazada, 11street, GemFive and many other large online marketplaces here. Meanwhile, Amazon will also be launching its marketplace at Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, The Philippines, and Vietnam, let’s hope Amazon will bring in the Echos, Fire tablets and TVs, and Kindles when it launches.
