Amazon has made a waterproof 7-inch Kindle e-reader

If a tablet display doesn’t appeal to you in reading, then you obviously turn to an e-reader for a better experience, as e-paper displays don’t have the glare that LCD panels emit, and if you now want to use an e-reader by the poolside on in your bath tub, Amazon has just announced the Kindle Oasis, a 7-inch e-reader that not feels extremely premium with an aluminum body, but it can also be submerged in fresh water for up to 2 meters of depth and 60 minutes, making this water resistance capability even stronger than today’s waterproof smartphones.

The Kindle Oasis is released in conjunction with the Kindle’s 10th anniversary, it has the largest display of any Kindle e-readers and uses a rather high 300ppi e-paper display, battery life will last up to weeks and it has fast charging functionality to get it back from the dead for less than two hours. For all of these upgrades, the Kindle Oasis costs a lot for what it is, it will start from $249.99 for the 8GB model with special offers, which the tablet will show ads on the display when on standby, while it will cost up to $349.99 for the 32GB model with no ads and free cellular network. Amazon is also selling water-safe fabric covers for $44.99 and premium leather covers for $59.99, which eventually you are already spending on a mid-range Android tablet.

Amazon is taking pre-orders of the Kindle Oasis right now, which you can head on to www.amazon.com/kindleoasis if you are really fond of its larger display and water resistance capability.
