Amazon Alexa will eventually be able to control all streaming services

Amazon has recently extended its famous home assistant device to be more compatible with video streaming services, initially, it only works on famous streaming services but with the tools now open to any content provider, we should expect to see more streaming services enabling voice control for their product.

With the introduction of Video Skill API, which will allow developers to accept inputs from Alexa to navigate their app, you will be able to play a particular show, search for content or change channels without moving an inch. This feature also applies to any Amazon product as long as its connected to the same network. Companies have already implemented this feature into their products such as Dish Network and YouView.

Amazon mentioned to TechCrunch that they are working with several other videos providers to develop this new service, but it will most probably take some time for streaming services to update their apps to take advantage of this new development.
