AirTag: Apple finally releases its Tile-like tracker

We’ve been waiting for this; Apple’s new AirTag is the tracker that we’ve been hearing for at least a year now and it’s finally here.

Apple took its time with AirTag

This isn’t anything new; if you’ve heard of Tile or even the Galaxy SmartTag that was launched earlier this year, it’s basically a similar product. AirTag comes in a circular design and works with the Find My network to help users detect their items. You can hang this track anywhere you’d like, plus Apple promises that it will not store any location data/history and communication between the tracker and user’s Apple devices will be encrypted. This means that even Apple won’t know your device’s location or what is actually is.

Don’t worry, you can hear it if it’s near

Apple’s AirTag uses the U1 chip that offers Precision Finding for iPhone 11 and newer users. Using the Ultra Wideband technology, you can easily track your lost item as you will be informed of the exact distance and direction of your belonging. You can use the Find My app to trigger your AirTag to play a sound so it’s easier for you to track it down.

AirTag comes with an IP67 rating, is lightweight and also durable due to its stainless steel exterior. You can even engrave text and emojis onto your AirTag for free when you purchase from the official site. AirTag is available at RM149 and will be available by the end of this month
