Acer unveils new and refreshed consumer and gaming products during IFA 2018

Acer had a lot to show during their IFA 2018 conference, most of the products were upgrade and refreshes of their older products but there are also new and interesting things as well.

Acer OJO 500

Acer is not new to the VR/AR market and their Acer Mixed Reality headset was a cheap entry into the VR world and now they have introduced the OJO 500. The new headset comes with some interesting features like IPD adjustable optics which can adjust the distance of the lens based on the distance to your eyes. Other than that, they have also incorporated a Sound Pipe which will allow users to hear the environment around you as well in the virtual world, this will be perfect for Muzium tours where you can hear the presentation as well as the virtual world. Lastly and probably the most interesting, the headset has a modular design and it allows you to swap out the optics.

Acer Aspire Z 24

The company introduced the Aspire Z 24 all-in-one PC which looks stunning with its 23.8-inch FHD IPS borderless panel which supports ten-point touch. It comes with the latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7+ processor, Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics chip and the speakers supports Acer TrueHarmony alongside Dolby Audio. There is also an integrated webcam at the top of the screen that has a four-mic array with far-field technology so you can use voice commands with either Cortana or Alexa.

Acer Aspire 7

The Aspire 7 is a powerful laptop that is made for designers and editors in mind. It comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and a Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics card which is specially made for this laptop. With all that hardware, it only weighs 1.5kg and has a 4K narrow bezel display.

Acer Swift 5

Next up is the refreshed Acer Swift 5 which now comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, 10-hour battery life, Acer TrueHarmony along with Dolby Audio and weights only 0.99kg.

Acer Swift 7

Just like the previous generation Swift 7, the 2018 model follows in its predecessor’s footsteps by being the thinnest and lightest laptop on the market. It weighs less than 1kg and comes with an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor. The managed to make the laptop smaller by increasing the screen-to-body ratio to 92%.

Predator Orion Lineup

The predator Orion family will be getting upgrades in the new future with the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 20-series cards. In addition to that, they are also adding in RGB lighting into the chassis of the computer. With the Predator Pulse software, users will get full control of the RGB lights on the casing and adjust the lighting colours as well as the intensity of the light. Music producers will be happy to know that you can even sync up the music to the lighting by allowing it to read your music file or fully customize the lighting effects according to the music

Predator X

During Acer’s previous global conference that happened a few months back, they teased us with the Predator X. A multitasking machine that comes with two processors and is so powerful that it will be able to play games and stream without and performance lost. Now, we also know that it comes with 12 ECC DIMM slots and it might also come with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 20-series cards.

Predator Triton 900

The Triton 900 is the latest and most powerful gaming laptop that Acer released and they have taken form factor design to a new level. The laptop comes with a 4K UHD Nvidia G-sync touchscreen panel that can be adjusted thanks to its CNC-machine hinge that allows you to adjust and pivot the display according to your liking. It also comes with a mechanical keyboard and the numpad and be switched to a trackpad whenever you need it. Acer has also updated the design of their AeroBlade 3D fan, as it now has 10% increased airflow and is more silent. The Triton 900 will be the first laptop that comes with these new AeroBlade fans and it will be installed into future products as well.

Predator Thronos

Lastly, Acer unveiled the Thronos gaming chair that doubles as your computer table. It has a motorized cockpit with a control arch, allowing you to rotate and adjust the angle and high of the chair. The chair is also fitted with a deep impact vibration function that syncs up to the game you are playing for a more immersive experience. Other than that, it supports three monitors and will integrate with Predator devices.

Sadly, they did not announce the price of the release dates for these products, but in the coming weeks, we should get more information on the devices mentioned
