A new Acer gaming smartphone to be launched in Q4

Smartphones which are catered for gaming aren’t new, but they seem like a pretty rare sight, since flagship smartphones are more than capable of handling any graphic intensive mobile game that you throw at them, without breaking a sweat and stressing their internals. Acer looks to continue contributing to the gaming community by manufacturing another gaming smartphone set to be unveiled later this year.

A quick rewind to IFA 2015 last year, Acer launched the Predator 6, a pretty powerful gaming smartphone. Sporting a 6-inch display, a crazily powerful deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor with 4GB of RAM, and a 21MP rear camera which is pretty impressive in its own stride. According to Commercial Times, Acer’s president ST Liew states that the new gaming smartphone by Acer will be launched during the fourth quarter of this year. The handset’s price point is said to sit between $499 (RM2,022.22) and $599 (RM2,427.48).

The gaming handset is said to be in the works already, with Acer working hard to optimize battery life and improving heat dissipation. Unfortunately, that’s all we know for the time being. We’re guessing that the new gaming smartphone might be the successor to the 6-month old Acer Predator 6 handset from last year. What do you think?
