Facebook users can create their own Avatars for News Feed and Messenger

Avatars are quite popular these days. Take Snapchat’s Bitmoji and Apple’s Memoji for example. Now, Facebook doesn’t want to get left out and started its own Facebook Avatar.

Similar to Bitmoji, you get to customise your avatar according to your liking — from your facial and body features to the outfit you wear. You’ll be able to use your new Avatar in Messenger and News Feed, but currently the feature is only available in Australia.

When the feature is finally out to all other countries, there should be a “smiley-face” button in your News Feed comment section and Messenger sticker tabs, so you can begin to create your avatar from there onwards. Phone Arena also said that all Facebook users will be able to see these Facebook Avatars even though Australia is the only country where its users can create the avatars at the moment.

Facebook also mentioned that the avatars will not be monetised, so you won’t have to worry about spending real cash to get certain accessories or clothes for your avatar. There are also plans to let users change their profile pictures to their Avatars, but that’s further down the road.
