New 2021 MacBook Pro rumoured to come without Touch Bar

We’ve had MacBooks with Touch Bar since 2016, but the upcoming MacBook Pro may be ending the trend.

Goodbye Touch Bar, Hello OLED iPad Pro

According to DSCC’s report, Touch Bars contributes to the third highest use of OLED panels, but this may change in the future since Apple may remove Touch Bars. However, there are also rumours indication that the next iPad lineup will be using OLED displays for the 10.9-inch version, meaning there will be an increase in usage of OLED panels despite the absence of Touch Bars.

With the Touch Bar gone, sources like Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg are expecting the comeback of the traditional function keys. It should be similar to the current MacBook Air’s function keys — sporting some new icons as compared to the older MacBooks.

What to expect from the new MacBook Pro

The new MacBook Pro is also expected to come in two sizes — 14-inch and 16-inch. These new models will be using the new mini-LED screen and also sport a new, flatter design like the new iMac and iPad Pro.

Another good news, if true, is the addition of an HDMI port and an SD card slot to the new MacBooks. This will be a much-welcomed feature if you’re someone who doesn’t like using dongles.
