HUAWEI is reported to launch a laptop in its own Kirin 990 chip and it’ll supposedly come with 5G connectivity.
HUAWEI wants its own Kirin 990 chip in the new laptop
Based on a new leak, the HUAWEI laptop will be powered by a Kirin 990 chip paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. Excluding the chipset, this laptop is quite similar to the HUAWEI MateBook 14 — it even has the same 14-inch 1080p screen. Called the Qingyun L410, the upcoming HUAWEI laptop will stand out due to its 5G support, but that’s the only outstanding feature that is spotted for now.
Chinese market will get it first
It’s also a guaranteed that the laptop will launch in China before it’s introduced globally. After all, that’s what HUAWEI has been doing with its smartphones. Though the laptop is rumoured to run on Deepin OS, we can also expect future models to run on HarmonyOS once the operating system is ready to support laptops.
HUAWEI’s decision to integrate its own chip into its laptop may be a smart move since the company is still banned from working with U.S. companies. Perhaps this will push HUAWEI to become a stronger and more independent tech brand.
