It’s gaming smartphones galore this year as the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel adds to the growing list, that includes powerhouses like the just-launched ROG Phone 3, Black Shark 3, and Nubia Red Magic 5G.
This is Lenovo’s first entry into the gaming smartphone market and they’re making a strong first impression – the phone sports a 6.59-inch+ AMOLED 144Hz display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate – which is just shy of the ROG Phone 3’s 270Hz touch sampling rate.
When it comes to design, it packs a very striking gaming-esque aesthetic that is available in two colours – black and red, and black and blue. The black and red model looks to have carbon fibre patterns on the top and front portions of the back panel. In the model, both colour options have the signature Legion ‘Y’ logo that lights up.
Under the hood, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel packs the latest Snapdragon 865+ chipset with up to 16GB and 512GB internal storage. Powering the phone are two 2,500mAh batteries which adds up to a 5,000mAh of juice for your device. There’s also support for 90W of fast charging.
For imaging, you get a capable 64MP dual-array camera system which also boasts a 16MP ultrawide snapper. Over on the front is where things get interesting – as you already know, the phone comes with a side-mounted pop-up selfie camera which uses a 20MP lens; its unique placement allows streamers to use this camera to broadcast themselves without relying on external gear. The camera can shoot regular vertical selfies too albeit you’ll have to look towards the side of the phone instead of the top.
The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel supports Wi-Fi 6 as well as 5G connectivity and comes with a liquid cooling system with copper pipes.
The phone will be available in China first this month and will be priced likes so:
- 8GB+128GB – CNY 3,499 (RM2,123)
- 12GB + 128GB CNY 3,899 (RM2,366)
- 12GB + 256GB CNY 4,199 (RM2,548)
- 16GB + 512GB CNY 5,999 (RM3,640)
There’s no word on when or if the Legion Duel will come to Malaysia, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest updates. If you’re in need of a gaming smartphone now, perhaps consider the Black Shark 3, Black Shark 3 Pro, or the ASUS ROG Phone 3 series.
