Every year Sony will make an appearance at E3, but that ended in 2019 when the company decided to take a different path to engage with their community.
Initially, many assumed that the withdrawal from Sony is due to the lack of exciting announcements and preparation for the PlayStation 5, but since Sony isn’t showing up for E3 this year either, it seems like Sony’s decision to withdraw is permanent.
As reported by GameIndustry.biz, a Sony spokesperson said, “We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year.”
He also revealed that there will be many more titles coming to PS4, in addition to the launch of PS5 this year. Although Sony will be skipping E3 again, the company mentioned that it will be appearing in many consumer events for its PS4 and PS5 game lineups.
