We know Vivo has a new sub-brand called iQOO, while recent reports also claim that iQOO will be Vivo’s avenue for producing and releasing premium flagships.

In these reports, iQOO’s apparent first smartphone will come with impressive specs – Snapdragon 855 chipset, 12GB RAM and 256 ROM. It’s said to sport a 4,000 mAh battery and supports 44W fast charging.

As it turns out, these reports were true. According to Engadget – who’ve gotten a hands-on preview of the phone – iQOO’s first release is set to be named after the brand. It is indeed powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset as well as an option of 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM or a much bigger 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM. Vivo claims that this is a gaming-centric device, and it shows.

The phone is a 6.41-inch mammoth featuring an AMOLED display and a dewdrop notch. Another notable addition is a 4,000mAh battery along with Vivo’s 44W Vivo Super FlashCharge. The iQOO will sport an all glass body along with a LED strip at the back that functions as notification lights.

The iQOO comes with pressure-sensitive “Monster Touch” trigger buttons for gaming. According to Engadget, the device sports a vapor cooling system making it a bona fide gaming smartphone.

As all smartphones that have a Vivo DNA go, the camera must be great. The iQOO is equipped with a triple-lens setup which features a 12MP main camera, a 13MP super wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor camera.

At the moment, the phone is only available in China for 2,988 Yuan (RM1,816) for the 6GB variant and 4,298 Yuan (RM2,6,12) for the 12GB variant. There’s no word as of yet on whether the iQOO will ship outside of China, but considering it’s affordable price for high-end components, we can see it selling like hotcakes if it does.
