WhatsApp finally joins the rest by bringing in stickers to its users, in addition to introducing an exclusive Stickers Store for users to get more sticker packs for free.
Currently, only the Android’s WhatsApp beta version 2.18.329 allows users to send and receive stickers, though iPhone users who have WhatsApp version 2.18.100 onwards can also receive the stickers. This means that the public version of WhatsApp on both Android and iOS devices are still lacking the feature although it is likely that Android users will receive the update before iOS users as it was reported that the feature will roll out slowly for users with iPhones that run on iOS 7.0 onwards.
This feature can be accessed by the emoji tab, where the sticker option will appear at the bottom bar. Similar to emojis, users can see stickers that they’ve recently used and also favourite stickers that they like. When multiple stickers are sent, they will be arranged two-by-two which is more space-efficient. Users can also get more stickers from the Stickers Store by WhatsApp and remove it when they don’t need them anymore. Aside from that, users who have supported versions of WhatsApp on their smartphones can also view and send the stickers on WhatsApp Web.
For those who are eager to try out the new feature and can’t wait for the public release, they can download the APK file or get the latest beta directly from the Google Play beta programme. The rest of the Android and iOS users will be able to view the stickers if their WhatsApp is updated, though it will require more time before they get to send stickers in the public version of WhatsApp. It is certain that most of the WhatsApp users will look forward to this new update.
