2018 Lexus LS 500: Craftsmanship at its core

The all new 2018 Lexus LS finally made its way to our shores, after being previewed at the Detroit Auto Show last year, and this time it comes with three variants: the LS 500 Luxury, the LS 500 Executive and the LS 500 Executive hybrid. It’s their fifth and latest generation and it will be available in up to 11 exterior colours and 6 interior colours for the Malaysian market.

Starting from the exterior, it has transcended from its more formal designs of previous generations to take on a more Sensual Aggressive appearance, all for a more dramatic and sporty look. The latest LS sits on the GA-L (Global Architecture- Luxury) platform and has a low centre of gravity, so it places the sleek silhouette lower, giving the impression of hugging the ground with its aggressive elements to it.

It’s worth noting that all the LS variants come equipped with a multi-link front/rear electronically-controlled air suspension system, and they ride on 20-inch wheels wrapped with 245/40 front and 245/45 rear profile run-flat tyres. The Lexus LS is crafted with lightweight materials including ultra-high tensile hot stamped steel and other steel alloys in critical areas. Talk about strength in four wheels.

As for the interior, it doesn’t just focus on adding more features and technology as it blends together Japanese aesthetic and advanced manufacturing techniques. It’s highly inspired by the omotenashi principle, whereby the luxurious ambience of the car envelopes passengers while treating the driver like a partner. It has a lot of traditional Japanese elements being incorporated into the car, hence, making it a sight to behold.

And last but not least, the pricing for the 2018 Lexus LS range is as stated below:

Lexus LS 500 Luxury – RM799,000
Lexus LS 500 Executive – RM999,000
Lexus LS 500h Executive – RM1,459,000
