Most Chinese smartphones are always about their spec sheets, while Nubia is no different with their smartphone lineup, it has gone all out with its latest addition to the team – the Nubia Z17. It is quite the feat for Nubia, ZTE’s sub brand, plus the fact that the Z17 has an astonishing 8GB of RAM.

But first, let’s start from the top. The Nubia Z17 features pretty much the same design elements from Nubia’s flagship line, the only difference being that it is now splash proof. Display remains the same as well with the same 5.5-inch size and 1080p resolution.

Underneath the hood, the Nubia Z17 is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, along with a whopping 8GB of RAM as mentioned earlier. The only known 8GB RAM smartphone before the Z17 is the yet to be released ASUS ZenFone AR. There is a lesser 6GB RAM model. The Nubia Z17 also comes in two storage variants – 64GB and 128GB.

The handset went with a dual rear camera configuration, which seems to be a rising trend – a 23MP + 12MP sensor, capable of 2X optical zoom and claimed to be better performing under low light. The front facing camera has also been bumped up to 16MP from 8MP.

The Nubia Z17 packs a 3,200mAh, which sounds just about right. One possible deal breaker is that the phone does not have a headphone jack. Another thing to note is the lack of expandable storage. Other than those, everything looks pretty darn impressive on paper.

The Nubia Z17’s price tag starts off at 2,799 CNY (RM1,764.01) and maxes out a 3,999 CNY (RM2,520.29). Is this truly the most powerful smartphone to date?
