Bezel-less phones are slowly becoming the norm with smartphones around us. Last year saw the launch of the Xiaomi Mi MIX, with very minimal bezels surrounding the screen. The Chinese company’s concept smartphone took the world by storm, packing some pretty high end specs underneath the hood as well. LG impressed us with the 18:9 display aspect ratio G6, and Samsung will be doing the same with the edge display Galaxy S8 as well.
After a series of rumors, it looks like Andy Rubin and his company Essential will be making a phone as well, and it will be bezel-less. The Android co-founder teased on his Twitter account an image of a beautiful bezel-less device partially concealed by the hand of the person gripping it. The display design resembles that of the Mi MIX, which will also mean that the front facing camera is likely to be placed below the screen. There’s also a button on the right side of the device if you look carefully, which will likely be the volume or power button.
The unnamed Essential phone was previously rumored to feature a magnetic connector which can be accessorized and use to be charged. Chances are that this phone will work like how Moto Mod’s do with Motorola’s modular smartphones. It looks like Rubin is on track with his company to launch this attractive smartphone some time in the future. What do you think?
