For the fourth year in a row, the HBO series Game Of Thrones is named as the most pirated TV show of 2015.

Based on the statistics gathered by Torrentfreaks, it seems that HBO’s adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire series of books have proven popular with the torrent crowd, netting in 14.4 million downloads. In comparison, The Walking Dead and the Big Bang Theory, coming in at second and third respectively, managed to accumulate a total of 6.9 million and 4.4 million downloads. 

Of the 14.4 million downloads, roughly half of the downloads occured in the first week after the show aired, exceeding the number of traditional viewers in the US. Furthermore, the interest in high quality releases have increased. While 480p copies of the show still remain the most popular among downloaders, 720p and 1080p files have gained traction among pirates.

As for the state of piracy, statistics show that TV show piracy has been steadily growing with popular shows managaing to exceed the number of traditional viewers the US has.
