MSI hasn’t been sitting on its laurels despite facing strong competition in the gaming notebook scene, the company has strived to offer gamers premium hardware components in its machines and have been on the front line to announce its Intel Skylake powered gaming notebook last month, living up to its true motto of “No. 1 in Gaming”. MSI has officially unveiled its full range of Intel Skylake notebooks in its local media event and features its lightest 14-inch gaming laptop ever made – the GS40, which weighs a mere 1.69kg and has Intel’s Core i7 6700HQ processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX970M graphics under the hood.
Apart from unveiling the GS40, the company’s current models such as the GS70, GS60, GT72 and GE62/GE72 Apache has also been refreshed with Intel’s Skylake platform, users will also find a Silver Lining Print on the SteelSeries engineered keyboard as well. In addition, MSI has thrown in new premium hardware components into its refreshed models, which includes a 32-bit/384KHz ESS SABRE HiFi Audio DAC for delivering extremely detailed sound in games, Killer DoubleShot Pro LAN that greatly reduces network latency and prioritizes network connections, True Color Display that delivers vivid and accurate colours, Cooler Boost 3 that efficiently dissipates heat from the notebook, and Super RAID 4 that delivers extremely fast load speeds in RAID 0 by combining PCI-E 3.0 SSDs with NVMe technology.
MSI’s new notebooks are currently available through authorized PC retailers, the GT72s Dominator Pro G we’ve reviewed will be the only model to sport the overclockable Core i7-6820HK processor, whereas the rest of MSI’s refreshed line ups will be fitted with the Core i7-6700HQ processor. The MSI GS40 on the other hand will retail at a suggested retail price of RM8499.
