Today, Xiaomi announced its Redmi Note 2 for four main markets: Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. The Redmi Note 2 is fitted with a 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core chipset, which is found in other high-end flagship phones as it delivers the performance flagships need. With this chipset and its supporting top-end specs, the Redmi Note 2 is set to outperform all devices in this price segment, as it also offers a high-quality camera that captures great pictures.
The flagship-grade 64-bit Helio X10 processor found in the Redmi Note 2 has eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores, all of which can be utilized when necessary for performance intensive tasks such as gaming. Combined with 2GB dual-channel LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB internal storage, the Redmi Note 2 hit a score of 50,646 on Antutu, which is even faster than some flagship models in the market.
The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display that is fully laminated, with features such s Sunlight Display to adjust the screen for clearer images under direct sunlight, and Reading Mode that offers 5x less brightness to combat fatigue eyes. Being 13% thinner and 25g lighter than its predecessor at 160g and 8.25mm in thickness, the Redmi Note 2 sports a 3,60mAh 4.4V high-density battery with quick charging support that offers up to 120 hours on standby, and is shipped MIUI 7.
Camera-wise, the Redmi Note 2 features a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. It also features Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) technology, typically found in DSLR cameras. With this technology, the Redmi Note 2 is able to focus on an image in just 0.1s and capture fleeting moments with ease, compared to Contrast Detection technology. As for selfie-lovers, the front camera is fitted with f/2.0 aperture, which allows better selfies in low-light on top of its beautify function.
Priced at RM649, the Redmi Note 2 will be available for pre-order in Malaysia on 11 November 2015, and will be shipped within 14 days.
