As a leading manufacturer of gaming notebooks, MSI has finally announced that all of its current products will be upgraded to Intel’s 7th Gen Core i7 processor, which will offer up to 15-20% of performance boost over the current Skylake processor while ensuring efficiency. In addition, the new processor complements NVIDIA’s Pascal GPUs that is already available on MSI’s gaming notebooks, offering performance improvements of up to 10% in 4K video edits and 15% in VR applications.
MSI will also be installing Nahimic VR sound enhancement in selected VR capable gaming notebooks, which takes VR gaming to the next level with 7.1 surround sound and gamers will be able to experience directional sound as if they are actually in the virtual world, it will also be optimised for the HTC Vive headset in early 2017.
As for which MSI gaming notebooks are being updated to the new Kaby Lake processor, here’s a list of them:
- GT Series - GT83VR, GT73VR, GT72VR, GT62VR
- GS Series - GS73VR, GS63VR, GS43VR
- GE Series - GE72VR, GE62VR
- GP Series - GP72VR, GP62MVR, GP72, GP62
- GL Series - GL72, GL62
Apart from processor upgrades, certain gaming notebook models such as the GE62-7RE Apache Pro receives a GPU upgrade to NVIDIA’s all new GTX 1050Ti discrete graphics and comes with 4GB GDDR5 RAM, which offers a 15% boost in gaming performance over the previous GTX965M GPU. Otherwise, the entry-level GP62 and GL62 notebooks have also been upgraded with a GTX 1050 GPU with 2GB GDDR5 memory, while the Prestige series PE60 notebook is upgraded with a GTX 1050 GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory.
