Fujifilm’s instant cameras are still pretty good when it comes to instant photo prints, and the company has introduced its first hybrid camera called the instax SQUARE SQ10. As the name already suggests, this is a pretty cute looking squarish compact instant camera that takes pictures with the new square format film.

How is it a hybrid camera? The SQ10 is equipped with a digital image sensor and image processing technology integrated with the existing instax system, which brightens up photos in low light conditions and enables users to take close up shots from a distance of up to 10cm, along with other features such as automatic exposure control, human detection and auto-focus. In addition, the SQ10 features two shutter buttons on the left and right, offering easy operation with either hands.

What’s interesting here is that the SQ10 has a pretty huge 3-inch monitor built-in, apart from serving as the live view and allowing users to configure the camera’s settings, users can edit photos with filters and choose the photos that they want to print, which the latter helps save prints from accidental shots. The SQ10 uses a MicroSD card for storage, and its removable battery can also be charged using a MicroUSB cable.

In conjunction with the launch, Fujifilm has also introduced the instax mini 9 camera, which features a selfie mirror on the front as a guide for framing selfies and a brightness adjustment dial for picture adjustment. The instax mini 9 also has five trendy colors to choose from, which includes Flamingo Pink, Lime Green, Cobalt Blue, Smoky White and Ice Blue.

Fujifilm will begin selling the instax SQUARE SQ10 and instax mini 9 at the Avenue K Japan Festival, and Wonder Photo Shop located at Sunway Pyramid and The Isetan Store Lot 10 starting today. The SQ10 and mini 9 will retail at RM1,328 and RM348 respectively, customers who purchase the cameras at the said locations enjoy freebies worth up to RM164. Otherwise, these instant cameras will be available nationwide after 21 May 2017.
